"How much will it cost?" is the first question almost everyone asks a painter. It is the right question, but on its own it can lead to the wrong decision. Two quotes for the same house can be far apart, and the difference is almost never the paint. It is the time, care and preparation behind it.
Why we never price without seeing your home
Every home is different: the size and layout, the condition of the walls and woodwork, the colours, and whether the house is lived in or empty. A price given over the phone either leaves things out or adds a cushion "just in case". So we visit, walk every room with you, and then give you one complete written price covering preparation, materials and labour. No hidden extras, and no surprises later.
What a premium finish includes
- A consultation with Jucelino and a written specification for every room
- Full protection of floors, furniture, windows and fittings before work starts
- Sanding, filling and repairs to walls, ceilings and woodwork
- Primers where needed, and Dulux Diamond, Dulux Heritage or Colourtrend paints in your chosen colours
- Sharp cutting in, smooth woodwork and even coverage
- A clean, tidy home at the end of every day
- A room-by-room walkthrough and snagging before we finish
What affects the price
- Size and layout. Open-plan spaces, double-height halls and stairwells take more time and access equipment.
- Condition of the surfaces. Cracks, previous poor work and patchy plaster need repairing before a premium finish is possible.
- Woodwork and joinery. Doors, panelling, built-in units and staircases are detailed, time-consuming work.
- Colours and finishes. Feature colours, dark tones and specialist finishes often need extra coats.
- Wallpaper. Removing old paper, lining and pattern matching all add to the scope.
- Lived in or empty. Working around furniture and a family takes more care and protection than an empty house.

Why the cheapest quote rarely gives the best finish
When quotes are far apart, the difference is almost always in preparation and time: less sanding, little or no filling, fewer coats, or less protection of your home. Those shortcuts are hard to see on day one, and very easy to see a few months later in strong light.
We are not the lowest quote, and we do not try to be. A premium finish is not about the paint alone. It is about the hours spent before the first coat goes on.
How to compare painters properly
- Is every room listed in writing, with what will be painted?
- Is sanding and filling of all surfaces included, or only obvious defects?
- How many coats are included, and which products will be used?
- How will floors, furniture and fittings be protected?
- Will the owner be involved, and who will actually do the work?
- Is the business fully insured?
